The problem
A suitable molded profile is not always available. Legacy equipment, worn samples and special grooves still need a defined specification.
Operating context
Machined seals cover rod, piston, rotary and wiper geometries produced to dimension. Custom parts cover molded and machined rubber or polymer components developed from drawings or samples.
What is usually reviewed together
- Start from a drawing, groove dimensions, photos or a representative sample.
- State material, tolerances, working conditions and expected quantity.
- Use a known profile family as a reference when the geometry is close to a standard code.
Useful inquiry inputs
- Drawing, CAD or measured dimensions
- Sample or photos if the original is worn
- Material and tolerance requirements
- Operating conditions and quantity
