SC is a rotary shaft oil-seal reference. Matching an existing SC seal starts with the shaft diameter, housing bore and seal width, followed by a review of the actual lip and case construction shown in a drawing or sample. The code alone does not establish interchangeable dimensions or operating limits.
Typical applications
- Replacement oil seals in rotating equipment
- Pump and gearbox shaft sealing where the original construction is confirmed
What to include in an inquiry
- Provide shaft diameter, housing bore and seal width
- Send a section drawing or photographs of both sides of the existing SC seal
- Identify lubricant, shaft speed and operating temperature
- Describe external dust or water exposure and any pressure at the seal
- Report shaft wear, surface finish and runout if available
